Kititas Bailey came to live with us in December 2002. Many thanks to his breeder Catherine Letts for entrusting us with what was then a gorgeous little ball of fluff with ears and a tail. He is still gorgeous but not so little, weighing in at 20lbs!! Bailey fitted in very well with our two resident moggies and his personality and demeanour were all we had hoped and expected. In May 2003 we had the opportunity to re-home an 8 year old pedigree male Maine Coon, Willowmead Vaughan (we call him Murphy). His background was unknown and he came to us in a poor physical and mental state. It was several months before he dared venture out from our spare room which had become his haven. He didn’t display the usual Maine Coon characteristics, he was very nervous and any noise sent him scurrying back to his room. His progress was slow but by Christmas 2003 he was sitting on our laps, especially Kevin’s (who he has adopted). He is still nervous and if more than one person gets close or there is a loud noise he runs off but he doesn’t go far. We spent many evenings wondering what had happened to him in his past but we will never know, all we can do is give him a loving home for the rest of his life. Sadly Murphy passed away suddenly in May 2007 at the age of 12 years he will be very sadly missed but fondly remembered.
Everything you read about Maine Coons is true. These magnificent cats ARE addictive. One or even two is not enough, so in the summer of 2004 it was decided that we would get another. This flamed

Now that we have Maine Coons we cannot imagine ever having any other breed. Seeing them tumble around ‘play-fighting’ and running around the house at an alarming rate is a sight indeed. Of course that doesn’t mean we love our moggy Jazz any less but from now on it’s Maine Mainia for us. We hope our showing and breeding will go from strength to strength and many thanks to all the breeders who have taken the time to talk to us and help us with our decisions.
